Fire Safety– 1 hr. Produced by CYC
Learn to prepare for and prevent a home fire, and steps to take immediately after a home fire. Class includes home safety checklists, family disaster planning and fire extinguisher use and smoke alarm installation education.

Tailored classes are available to meet specific needs of workplace groups, youth, seniors, people with disabilities, underserved populations, non-English speakers, etc. Class covers three steps to personal preparedness.
Basic First Aid & Hands-Only CPR Training– 1.5 hrs. Produced by: CYC
Teach untrained bystanders how to perform hands-only CPR, control external bleeding and manage shock in an emergency.
Response and Recovery– 1 hr. Produced by: CYC

Red Cross certified staff teach the skills and information needed to provide immediate care to an injured adult or infant until medical professionals arrive. The training is available to the general public and earns a two year certification.

This class is offered to the general public to learn how to create a kit, make a plan and stay informed during times of disaster. Follow these simple steps in advance to ensure you can weather a crisis safely and comfortably.
Psychological First Aid– 3 hrs. Produced by Red Cross and the Department of Public Health
The Training promotes the mental health and psychosocial well-being of survivors. Psychological first aid aims to reduce initial distress, meet current needs, promote flexible coping and encourage adjustment.
NERT Training– 6 classes at 3 hrs. each. Produced by: San Francisco Fire Department
Learn the basics of personal preparedness and prevention. The training also includes hands-on disaster skills that will help individuals respond to personal and neighborhood emergencies.
ALERT Training– 2 classes at 8 hrs. each. Produced by the San Francisco Police Department
The training is designed for volunteers 16 years or older, who live, work, or attend high school in San Francisco. The goal of the program is to locate, train, and then coordinate volunteers to safely perform essential tasks after a major disaster.

Heat events, prolonged periods of excessive heat, cause more deaths than any other natural disaster. Learn how to recognize the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and ways to mitigate the impacts on your health.

PFA online includes a 6-hour interactive course that puts the participant in the role of a provider in a post-disaster scene. This professionally-narrated course is for individuals new to disaster response who want to learn the core goals of PFA.
Introduction to Incident Command System- Online IS 100 – 3 hrs. Produced by FEMA
This training introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System.
National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction- Online IS 700– 3 hrs. Produced by FEMA
This course introduces the National Incident Management System (NIMS) which provides a template to enable all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents.
