Citywide Psychological First Aid Training

 This free training provided participants with the practical skills needed to increase their personal resilience, improve coping, and manage stress. The training increases overall confidence and effectiveness in communicating with others as the community recovers during a disaster. Our trainer, Dr. Elizabeth McMahon, Ph.D., has 30+ years of experience as a practicing clinical psychologist. She specializes in effective therapy for mental and emotional resilience and is co-creator of SF’s groundbreaking NERT Curriculum.

San Francisco Department of Building Inspection: Seismic Safety Outreach Program

In May 2015, San Francisco’s Department of Building Inspection (DBI), in partnership with Community Youth Center (CYC) and Self Help for the Elderly launched the Seismic Safety Outreach Program to provide San Francisco’s diverse populations with hands on training and education on how residents, young and old, can prepare before, during and after an earthquake.

As of January 2018, this program was expanded to provide in-language workshops. Workshops are provided citywide in all 11 of San Francisco’s Supervisor Districts, which are:

  • District 1 – Inner Richmond, Outer Richmond, Laurel Heights, Jordan Park, Vista del Mar, Golden Gate Park, Lincoln Park, Ocean Hwy
  • District 2 – Marina, Presidio, Cow Hollow, Pacific Heights, Nob Hill, JapanTown, Presidio Terrace
  • District 3 – North Beach, Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf, Polk Gulch, Union Square/Financial District and Russian, Nob and Telegraph Hills
  • District 4 – Central Sunset, Outer Sunset, Parkside, Outer Parkside, and Pine Lake Park
  • District 5 – Fillmore/Western Addition, North of the Panhandle, Lower Haight, Haight-Ashbury, Hayes Valley
